Mudwater IV is a visionary dance theatre production set in the year 2035, where the last remaining Turf dancers in the Bay Area fight to prevent the extinction of their culture. In a world overtaken by technology and artificial intelligence, the dancers upload their knowledge of Turfing into an AI system — teaching it the movements, meaning, and spirit of the style in hopes it can carry it forward for future generations.
Through street dance, acting, and storytelling, the show explores themes of viral infection, infighting, expression, reflection, and the tension between preservation and evolution. I contributed to this powerful narrative through Turfing, using my movement to embody resistance, remembrance, and raw cultural memory.
More than a performance, Mudwater IV is a statement about legacy — a reminder that Turfing isn’t just a dance style, it’s a living archive of identity, survival, and truth. Whether preserved by humans or passed through machines, the fight to keep it alive continues.
